POSS® can be used for the (visual) monitoring of level crossings. Data measured include e.g. movements and closure times, road traffic movements, train movements, offences, etc.
Movements and closure times
POSS® can be used to monitor the number of movements, closure times and average closure times per hour for individual level crossings. The measured data are presented in a clear and online overview. The data can also be downloaded as an Excel file for further analysis.
The website will show which level crossings need attention if the user puts maximum and minimum limits to the measured data. For example, an alarm indicator may be activated if the closing intervals of barriers are extremely short or extremely long. Apart from detecting possible failures, the system is also suitable for monitoring the train density on level crossings.
Visual monitoring of level crossings
POSS® can also be used for the visual monitoring of level crossings to provide information about:
- operational aspects for the traffic control
- safety and management aspects for maintenance contractors and infrastucture managers
- trafic offences
Two cameras register images of the level crossings. The images are analysed and processed using intelligent image analysis processing. The processed data are sent to a central website.
