Besides railway infrastructure and rolling stock, POSS® can be used to monitor objects such as building excavations, bridges and tunnels.
Building excavations
POSS® can detect potential risks to the environment due to construction work. This enables contractors to take preventive measures and prevent damage to surrounding buildings.
The excavation monitoring system consists of a central industrial computer connected to sensors. The central computer will transmit alarm signals in the case of landslides/displacements or defined groundwater levels. Sound signals and alternating lamps will inform the persons present in the excavation about the deviations detected. The data are stored in the central computer, that is provided with a purpose-built waterproof case. The system components are suitable for use in high temperatures and insensitive to peak voltages caused by strong electromagnetic fields. A special UPS, that is suitable for high temperatures, enables the system to set off power failures for up to two minutes.
Bridges
POSS® can measure items such as the traffic load on bridges. The measurement data can be used to determine feasibility limits for maintenance. This is important for monitoring the load on a bridge and setting up the maintenance process for the bridge.
