Rolling Stock

Rolling Stock
POSS® can monitor rolling stock and board systems, also when the vehicles are running, and no matter whether the trains are old or new.

New trains
Most new trains are equipped with their own diagnostics system, facilitating ongoing checks of practically all systems. Information of the actual performance status of this equipment usually only comes available when the train is in the maintenance facility. POSS® supports the transfer of all information real-time as well as at designated intervals, enabling the workshop to monitor train performance via the internet, also when the train is running. In addition, POSS® not only enables the maintenance company to schedule repairs and thus increase train availibility but also to analyse failures and systems and thus improve reliability of the train.

Old trains
Older trains mostly do not have a maintenance computer or system on board. In that case we can install sensors in the train and connect critical systems and components to POSS®. This gives train operators and maintenance companies of older vehicles the same benefits as when they would have had new trains.

On-board systems
POSS® can monitor on-board systems, such as:

  • Power / traction systems
  • Doors
  • ATP/ATC and ETCS systems
  • Brakes
  • Hydraulic & pneumatic systems
  • Electrical (high & low voltage) systems
  • Maintenance and diagnosis systems
  • ICT passenger information systems
  • Speed & distance measuring systems
  • Tracking & tracing systems

ERTMS/ETCS
New developments include the link with the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) on board of the train (ETCS). In this respect, POSS® satisfies a  growing need. Monitoring makes ERTMS far more transparent. Thanks to the direct data link to the EVC box, error messages are transferred immediately from the coach equipment.

Track-N-Trace
Where is coach no x? How can I keep track of the locations of my entire train fleet? What is the quickest way for my mechanic to the defective loc? Every minute counts. Where exactly is the work train and, more importantly, in which direction does it go? Strukton's Track-N-Trace system provides the answer to those questions. More information about Track-N-Trace can be found on the page with POSS downloads.
