The XL VRB 25 KL hydraulic platform vehicle is used for new catenary installation. The hydraulic platform vehicle has a long working platform that can be extended at the front and rear for threading contact wire. The vehicle has three platforms, two of which are large and are limited to vertical movement. The small central platform can reach a working height of 10 metres and is able to extend to 3.2 metres outside the track. The platforms can be linked electrically, enabling the upward and downward motion of all three platforms to be synchronized with a single switch. There are two wire lifters in front of the small platform for raising the catenary or guiding the contact wire in the threading process.
The hydraulic platform vehicle has an operating station with a separate section that can accommodate up to four passengers. There is an automatic loading crane at the rear of the vehicle that can reach as far as the small front platform. The vehicles train brake is rated at 100 tons train weight.
