On 21 April 2006, Strukton Railinfra demonstrated its newest inspection techniques to several parties in the Netherlands, including the Dutch Railways, the infra manager ProRail, the Ministry of Transport, the Labour Inspectorate, the Transport Inspectorate, and policital parties. The demonstrations and discussions were held to be highly interesting according to the visitors.
The inspection techniques shown have been newly developed by Strukton Railinfra and Eurailscout and enable surveying the track at any moment of the day, without disrupting the train service. The data are measured objectively and directly recorded in digital form. Applying these techniques leads to efficiency improvement and a higher safety level.
Digital inspection of points: Remotely controlled video cameras inspect points near Amsterdam since June 2005. The cameras can inspect the points from various sides. The results in Amsterdam being highly successful, the technique will also be applied in Amersfoort.
Video inspection of points using the VST-05: The video inspection train VST-05 inspects mainly points along the open track, at high speed. Eurailscout has developed the train, based on initiatives of Strukton Railinfra and ProRail.
Mobile video inspection unit: The mobile video inspection unit HORUS is a stand-alone unit that can be fitted to any rail vehicle. The unit, developed by Strukton Systems, is basically used for tracing headchecks at railway yards.
