Introduction of iPad solution for POSS®

During last week’s InnoTrans in Berlin, Strukton Rail introduced an iPad application for the POSS® monitoring system. POSS® remotely monitors the condition of systems and objects such as point machines, point heating, train detection and level crossings. The system registers everything that deviates from the norm and thus finds deviations before they lead to a disruption. The data are available through the internet and can therefore be read out at any place and any time, also using an iPad.

Lease contract – iPad for free
Since September 2010, Strukton offers the possibility of LeasePoss. High investments are no longer required when opting for a POSS® lease contract, which sharply reduces the operational inspection cost. A special offer was done during the InnoTrans: Visitors who decided to monitor at least ten point machines at one to three locations, based on a 3-year lease contract received an iPad for free. The great interest for POSS shown during the InnoTrans has made Strukton decide to prolong this action until 30 November 2010.

POSS® makes rail infrastructure maintenance and fault-finding a proactive process. The technology is completely internet-based. The system uses sensors along the track, using GPRS / GSM-R or fixed (glass fibre) connections to send data to the central database which is linked to an internet web server. Users can distribute, analyse, report and/or present these data in different ways. The data are available 24/7 at any place.

Strukton has developed POSS® for application in Strukton’s own maintenance and operational environment. As POSS® is a live active system used every day, it is particularly attractive for the new user.
