Accompanied by Rolf Koops (manager region North at Bouwend Nederland), Dutch MP Jan Mastwijk (CDA) visited Strukton Railinfa on 22 August. The visit was initiated by Bouwend Nederland, an association for the construction sector, who invited a number of MPs for work visits whilst Parliament is in summer recess.
Since Jan Mastwijk became spokesman on railway issues for his party in 2006, he chose to visit a company within the railway sector. He was particularly interested to see maintenance on the tracks. Strukton Railinfra highly values good relations with politicians an other stakeholders. After all, the parties involved share the responsibility for a reliable railway service.
The visit took place in Olst (the IJssel region project) where, between Zwolle and Deventer, 11 km of railway track is almost entirely renewed. The nature and complexity of the project was explained to the visitore, who also had the opportunity to visit the work site where they could see equipment such as a tamping machine, a stabillizer and a ballast profiler in action.
Jan Mastwijk published an article with his impression on his personal website (in Dutch).
