Strukton Systems is to upgrade the monitoring systems at two test sites for natural gas distributor NV Nederlandse Gasunie in a contract worth EUR 240,000. The upgrade is needed because support for the current X25 network will be withdrawn by the provider at the end of 2009. The work on the two sites, a gas export station and a gas compressor station, is a pilot project, with a technically different approach in each case. NV Dutch Gasunie is to make a final decision on the best approach for the remaining 13 sites in mid February 2007.
The X25 link will be upgraded to broadband Ethernet. The video system will also be refurbished with a new video hard disk recorder, video matrix system and transmission system, which is currently based on ISDN. The migration to a new data link will entail modifications to the control over X25 and control and transmission from and to the video system. The work is due for completion on 1 December 2006.
In addition to this pilot project, Strukton Systems is engaged on a long-term ongoing project for NV Dutch Gasunie for maintaining the hardware in the Central Alarm Station, which serves all sites throughout the Netherlands.
