Strukton Rail has invested in a new tamping machine, the Unimat 08-475-4S, which is available as from June of this year. This Unimat is universal and can be used for tamping both switches and main track. The machine has been equipped to operate in several European countries. Extra lights have been mounted for the use in different countries. The driver can select which signal should be used depending on the country where the machine is used. The machine will be equipped with GSM-Rail and the Swedish/Norwegian ATC (Automatic Train Control) system. Other country specific security systems such as the Dutch ATB system and the German Indusi and the Belgian Memor can be installed later if desired. The new 08-475-4S Unimat replaces the old Swedish 08-275-3S and will operate in Sweden.

The programme for the new machine was developed in good cooperation between Swedish and Dutch specialists of Strukton Rail and Plasser & Theurer’s Austrian specialists. Tamping machines are used for raising, straightening and tamping track. Click here for video fragments of the 08-475-4S Unimat.
