Strukton Railinfra welcomes renewal train

08 | 09 | 2006

Strukton Railinfra adds a new renewal train to its extensive fleet of machines. The new train will be used for renewal projects in various European countries.

Strukton Railinfra will perform the final building of the train in its own workplace in Zutphen as from Monday 11 September. The test runs will start as from October. The building process was started about one year ago. Mechanics of Strukton Railinfra have joined the supplier’s mechanics in Matisa’s factory in Lausanne (Switzerland) to help building the train. The future crew has done a training in the same factory. The expertise and experience of Strukton Railinfra, both the mechanics and the future crew, were explicitly noticed by Matisa.

Running permits in Europe
The train will first be used in the Netherlands, where the train has a temporary permit. Running permits for the Netherlands (permanent permit), Germany, Sweden, Italy and Belgium are expected to be granted between December 2006 and February 2007.

Concept
A renewal train bends rails out, digs old sleepers out of the ballast and places new sleepers. The newly acquired train has been based on the same concept as its twenty-year old predecessor, that has, after an excellent record of service, received the end of its life span. The supplier Matisa has in the past years done further developments based on the same concept. This assures Strukton Railinfra that it can count on a proven and reliable concept.

Strukton Railinfra uses its extensive fleet of machines and equipment for maintenance, renewal and new construction of rail systems highly intensively. Owing to the fact that Strukton Railinfra carries out projects in several European countries, the equipment can be used in the most optimal and efficient way.
