28 | 07 | 2010
Strukton Rolling Stock has won the contract to deliver new traction equipment to operator Tisséo-Toulouse for the VAL206 metro trains of line A of the Toulouse metro. The 28 trains will get new IGBT based chopper traction equipment including new control electronics. The first trains will be equipped early 2011; the last trains are planned to be equipped mid 2013.
After the VAL Chicago Airport contract in 2007, this is the second VAL traction equipment contract for Strukton. The power electronics division of Strukton Rolling Stock has contracts throughout the world and is with its concept of standard power modules to be equipped in each shape and size, especially strong in the refurbishment market.
Strukton is honoured to be delivering new systems to Toulouse as being one of the most technically advanced cities in France. The operator Tisséo is running buses, 2 metro lines operating the driverless VAL trains and will be running trams before the end of 2010. Tisséo-Toulouse is carrying out a complete refurbishment programme (incl. interior) for the VAL206 trains.
