The different information systems on the ZuidTangent bus route communicate more directly with each other since 17 July 2006. The noise between the various systems and techniques has been reduced as a result.
All bus stops on the ZuidTangent, the bus route between Haarlem and Schiphol, are continually provided with up-to-date traveller information. A display shows the expected times of arrival and departure of the various buses. If a bus is delayed, the traveller directly sees this on the display. It is important for this aim that the various information systems communicate well. The timetable of the bus company (stored in TransModel), the board computer, the GPS registration during the bus ride and the dynamic traveller information system (DRIS) that shows the final data on the displays.
The communication between the different systems was not always perfect. In consultation with the Municipality of Haarlem it was therefore decided to simplify the process. The solution was to remove one communication step by directly linking the timetable to the traveller information system. Strukton Systems, who in 2003 were responsible for the design, development and realisation of the DRIS, has implemented this link. The bus company Connexxion now directly provides data to the bus and the DRIS. Strukton Systems and Connexxion used TMI 8 as the interface, the latest version of the so-called TransModel Interface. It is the first time that TMI 8 is used in Europe.
