Gysev Raaberbahn has rolled out POSS at their location in the town of Sopron in Hungary. Gysev Raaberbahn aims to modernise its tracks. As part of that programme, they have asked Strukton to install POSS to perform a test for preventive maintenance on four points (two double crossings and two single points) in Sopron. The railway line involved offers an hourly international passenger service in each direction and carries 1400-1500 freight transports per day.
Strukton installed and commissioned two POSS boxes at the end of March 2009 and did so within four hours. Directly after the installation, the maintenance engineers of Gysev Raaberbahn could see the behaviour of their points. Strukton engineers can also monitor the points from their computer in the Netherlands and inform Gysev Raaberbahn when they observe deviant behaviour of the points.
Gysev Raaberbahn will use POSS for a trial period of three months. The company will decide on further expansion of the system based on the results in this period. Gysev Raaberbahn is a privately-owned Austrian-Hungarian railway company that has been in operation since 1872. The company transports 6 million tons of goods and 5 million passengers each year.
