Strukton Systems realises a 380kV grid connection for EPZ

07 April 2016

In January 2016, EPZ has awarded the contract to Strukton Systems for the realisation of an additional 380kV grid connection. The reason that this project has been awarded to Strukton Systems, is because of the thorough plan and the sound technical solutions proposed herein.

The project consists of a 380kV field, a 40MVA 380/6 kV transformer, modifications to the existing installation inclusive protection and control and a 6 kV cable route of 700 meter. Part of the project is a new change over switch and the integration of the new connection into the existing plant technology. Of course in every aspect, safety has the highest priority.

The contract consists of the design, engineering, procurement, realisation and commissioning.

The project team has started with a kick-off together with the customer, and with the ordering of the long lead items. One of the critical items is the above-mentioned transformer. This extension project needs to be completed in the 2nd quarter of 2017 due to operational reasons of the power plant.

Strukton Systems Energy Solutions is working closely together with the Cable division of Strukton Systems, and with a local partner for civil works and foundations. Strukton has deliberately opted for local content in the context of Corporate Social Responsibility. What is also special about this project is that there are many interfaces with other organisations, like TenneT, EPZ and various subcontractors.
