Renewal of S-banen between Valby and Frederikssund

09 February 2018

Strukton Rail A/S has won the contract to renew the Danish S-train suburban rail system between Valby and Frederikssund on behalf of Banedanmark. Renewal of the line is necessary in order to maintain stable rail traffic in the long run. The line is one of the busiest lines managed by Banedanmark, counting approximately 40,000 passengers daily (2010s). Once completed after the summer vacation, punctuality for passengers will be improved.

The project will be carried out between week 23 and week 34 of this year, with the peak in the summer holidays. The project involves:

  • Renewing 30 km of track (rails, sleepers, ballast)
  • Constructing ten new switches
  • Removing seven switches
  • Construction three new tram stops

Strukton will handle approximately 140,000 tons of materials (approxately 7,000 truck-loads) and 34,000 concrete sleepers
