380 kV grid connection for EPZ

In January 2016 Strukton Systems has received the order for the realisation of a third connection of the nuclear power plant of EPZ to the 380 kV transmission network. The reasons that Strukton Systems has been awarded are the quality of the project plan and the sound technical solution that has been proposed. This EPC contract includes the design, engineering, procurement and the realisation inclusive commissioning. Due to the operational planning of the power plant, this extension project has to be completed in the second quarter of 2017.

Project specification

The project is designed to guarantee an additional connection to the 380 kV transmission network. The project scope includes an additional 380 kV field, a 40 MVA 380/6/6 kV transformer and various modifications of the distribution grid in the power plant. These modifications include protection and control systems, an automatic change over switch and a cable trace of 700 meters. For all project steps safety has the highest priority.

Strukton Systems is cooperating with various other companies. The Business Unit Cable is responsible for the cable trace and an external local subcontractor is responsible for civil works and foundations. The reason that this local subcontractor has been chosen is that Strukton wants to comply with its Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
